Mishawaka, Ind.--- The Bethel University Women's Basketball team fell short in their crosstown clash with IU South Bend Saturday, 75-62 in the Wiekamp Athletic Center, dropping their record to 1-1 on the young season.
The Pilots kept the game close for much of the game and with 6:32 left in the game, Mariah Claywell made a jump shot to cut the Titan lead to 7, but back-to-back turnovers pushed the IUSB lead back to 11, and Bethel would get no closer than 7 points the rest of the way.
The Pilots were led by sophomore
Maiah Shelton, who scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
Miriah Claywell and Addi Jones both added 9 points respectively, while Abby Williams led the team with 10 rebounds.
For the game, Bethel converted on just 11 of 16 from the charity stripe (68.8%).
The Pilots had 15 points off turnovers and 20 total points in the paint as well as 24 bench points and 14 second chance points.
