Mishawaka, Ind. ---The Pilots battled for three quarters but were unable to find their groove late as they dropped their 4
th straight Crossroads League game, falling to Taylor University 83-59 Saturday afternoon in the Wiekamp Athletic Center.
Bethel took the early lead with a
Maiah Shelton 3-pointer, but the Trojans tied it up quickly as 9-9 halfway through the first quarter and didn't give the lead back. the Trojans led by just four, 22-18 after the first quarter, but built their lead to 38-29 by halftime.
The Pilots would not go away silently though, keeping things interesting into early in the 4
th quarter when they cut the lead to just 9 points at the 8:05 mark on an
Abby Williams free throw, but the Trojans finished the game on a 22-8 run to pull away late.
Both teams did a great job of taking care of the basketball as Bethel had a season low 10 turnovers and Taylor just 12, but TU took control of the boards, outrebounding the Pilots 38-24. The Trojans also knocked down 14 of 29 trifectas, while the Pilots made just 7 of 27.
Shelton led the Pilots with 16 points, including connecting on three 3-pointers, while
Katie Kinker and
Caroline Morris both had 9 points respectively.
With the loss, the Pilots fall to 4-8 in regular season play and are now 0-4 in the Crossroads League.

- Bethel will be traveling to Indiana Wesleyan University on Dec. 10th to take on the #7 Wildcats at 1:00 p.m.
