MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The Bethel University Women's soccer team played a tough match against Mount Vernon Nazarene University at Morey Field in Mishawaka, Indiana, on October 2, 2024. The game ended in a 0-0 draw, as both teams' defenses held strong throughout the 90 minutes of play.
Bethel outshot Mount Vernon 8-2, with four of those shots being on goal, but they couldn't find the back of the net. Bethel goalkeeper
Meghan Kiebel had a standout performance with crucial saves, while Mount Vernon's Hannah Miller made four stops to keep her team in the game. Bethel's defensive efforts were led by
Karly Harfouche, who provided key stops, keeping Mount Vernon's attack in check.
Despite the physicality of the game, marked by seven fouls from Mount Vernon and four from Bethel, the Pilots remained resilient.
Aubrey Vervynckt received a yellow card in the 68th minute, but Bethel's defense continued to control the game. Several substitutions brought fresh energy, but the match ended without either side's goal.
Bethel had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks, but they couldn't capitalize on those set-piece opportunities, including a late corner by
Leila Mojtahedi in the 86th minute. Bethel's best chances came from
Leena Thomas, who had two shots late in the game, but they narrowly missed the target.
