MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots Women's Soccer team (3-1-01) started a two-game win streak with a 1-0 win over the Siena Heights Saints (2-1-1) after
Aubrey Vervynckt hits yet another game-winning-goal early in the game.
It was a quiet first 15 minutes with both sides figuring out how to combat each other until the Saints found their first opportunity in the 15th minute from a shot that missed high above the crossbar, into the parking lot, then a header that also missed high in the 17th minute. SHU nearly struck first with a shot that Kiebel knocked away on the right side of the net, then a rebound shot hit the opposite post, and one last chip was attempted that keeper
Meghan Kiebel fought off for two saves within seconds of each other.
In the 21st minute,
Aubrey Vervynckt found her way into the box and took a right boot to the net to give the Pilots the lead and start to gain more possession as the first half played on. Vervynckt hit her third goal of the season which would be her second game-winner in a row.
Kiebel ended the night with her second clean sheet in a row and four saves to lead the Pilots to their third win of the season.
