Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. --The Bethel Pilots (1-0-1) defeated the Ottawa University of Arizona Spirit (0-1-0) on Morey Field on Saturday Afternoon.
Bethel totaled ten shots compared to seven by the Spirit. The Pilots also recorded more saves (five) than their opponent (four).
Following a series of fouls by the Spirit in the first ten minutes of the match,
Leena Thomas posted the first Pilot goal, assisted by
Aubrey Vervynckt.
Vervynckt demonstrated her offensive consistency, with a quick turnaround assist to
Karly Harfouche, who scored in minute twelve for a 2-0 Pilot lead.
Finally, Vervynckt continued to build momentum for the Pilots in the fourth minute of the second half with a penalty kick goal.
Head Coach Jason Freeman shared, "I loved the work rate from the entire group today! We saw tremendous growth from game one to game two, and that is a testament to the players' passion and desire to learn together. Really great outing from the players, staff, and support staff today."
