COACHING PHILOSOPHY/WHY DO YOU COACH?

“My coaching philosophy is centered on developing confident, resilient, and selfless young women through the game of lacrosse. I believe athletics is a powerful platform to teach life lessons that extend far beyond the field, and my goal is to help student-athletes grow as competitors, teammates, leaders, and people.

I am committed to developing the whole person—spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. At Bethel, we seek to glorify God in all that we do, and I strive to create a team culture that honors Him through humility, integrity, and service. I aim to challenge my athletes to pursue excellence while also encouraging them to compete with humility, discipline, and respect for the game and for others.

On the field, I emphasize a high-effort, team-first style of play. I believe success comes from preparation, attention to detail, and a willingness to do the small things well, focusing on the daily process of improving. I value tough, disciplined defense, unselfish ball movement, and players who are willing to work for each other. I encourage creativity and confidence, while also holding athletes accountable to team standards and roles.

As a coach, I am committed to building strong relationships with my players. I strive to be honest, supportive, and consistent in my communication. I believe athletes perform best when they feel valued, understood, and challenged, and I work to create an environment where they feel safe to learn, make mistakes, and grow.

Ultimately, my goal is to prepare my athletes not only to compete at a high level in the WHAC, but to leave Bethel as leaders who are equipped to serve others and make a positive impact in their communities. Wins matter, but the lasting success of our program is measured by the character, confidence, and resilience of the women who wear our jersey.” - Jeremy Brown
