GRANGER, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots Women's Golf team hosted the Eternal Joy Match Play Series at Knollwood Country Club Monday with the Pilots defeating Olivet Nazarene in the morning session 9-0 and the Holy Cross Saints 7-0 in the afternoon session. The event was played in honor of head coach Chris Hess' mother passing in a tragic car accident 10 days ago.
The event was played in two-man pairings, followed by singles matches for both sessions. In the morning session, the pairing of
Aynslee Myer and Meghan Bishop won 5 and 3 with
Selah Unwin and
Karisa Dyer winning 3 and 2, with
Izzy Aigner and Ana Toro winning 3 and 2.
In the morning singles session, Myer finished two up, Bishop five and three, Unwin three and two, Dyer four and three, Aigner four and three, and Toro four and three.
The afternoon session two-man pairings finished with Myer and Bishop winning five and four, Unwin and Dyer winning four and three, and Aigner and Toro taking the victory four and three. In the singles matches, Bishop won five and four, Dyer won four and three, Aigner won four and three and Toro won four and three.
"It's been a rough few weeks for me, so today was a special day," said head coach Chris Hess, "We wanted to have a great competition but also have a lot of fun on the golf course. Sometimes adversity can help you refocus on priorities and give you a new perspective on life. So we are all very thankful for the game of golf and any opportunities to compete together."

The Pilots play in the Saints Classic, hosted by the Holy Cross Saints, on Oct. 14-15 at the University of Notre Dame's Warren Golf Club in preparation for the NCCAA National Championship in Palm Coast, Fla. Oct. 21-23 at the Hammock Beach Resort Conservatory Course.
