HUNTINGTON, Ind. --- In a thrilling contest at King Stadium, the Bethel Pilots (6-2-2, 0-1-1) and Huntington University (Ind.) battled to a 2-2 draw on Saturday.
The game saw early action with Huntington taking the lead in the 20th minute when Sophie Shepherd found the back of the net, assisted by Elana McGinnis. Bethel quickly responded in the 38th minute with a goal from
Autumn Beaudoin, assisted by
Grace Beck, leveling the score at 1-1.
Bethel took the lead early in the second half, with
Leena Thomas scoring in the 51st minute, however, Huntington's Sophie Shepherd struck again in the 56th minute, equalizing the game at 2-2 with another assist from McGinnis.
Bethel maintained offensive pressure throughout the game, taking 16 shots with 12 on frame, while Huntington managed five shots with three on frame. Huntington's goalkeeper, Ireland Aerni, was busy, making 10 saves. Despite multiple corner opportunities for Bethel, including 11, they couldn't break the deadlock in the final minutes.
Bethel's next match will be at home on October 2 at 6:00 PM, as they face off at Morey Field in Mishawaka, Ind.Â
