Mishawaka, Ind. — Despite a strong start and multiple standout performances, Bethel lacrosse (6-6, 3-4 WHAC) fell to Lawrence Tech (8-4, 5-1 WHAC) on Saturday morning at Morey Field, 20-8.
The Pilots matched the Blue Devils goal for goal in the first quarter, finishing tied 3-3 thanks to early strikes from Mackenzie Holland, Addi Jones, and Isabell Gerbrand. However, Lawrence Tech found its rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring Bethel 5-1 and carrying momentum through the remainder of the game.
Chloe Harding led the Pilots, while Gerbrand and Holland each added two goals a piece. Jones also found the back of the net once for Bethel. Serenity Kretschmer contributed an assist.
On the defensive end, Maddie Reel made several crucial saves to keep the Pilots within reach early in the game, but Lawrence Tech's offensive firepower proved too much as they scored 17 goals in the final three quarters.
The Pilots will have a rematch with the Siena Heights Saints on Tuesday, April 15, at O'Laughlin Stadium in Adrian, Mich., for the WHAC Quarterfinal, with a time to be announced.
