SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — The Bethel Pilots Women's Lacrosse team (7-7, 3-4) faced a tough defeat against the No. 5 Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (9-4, 5-1) in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament Semifinal on Thursday, falling 18-3.

The Blue Devils dominated from the start, with Jocelyn Vander Zwaag scoring unassisted at 10:23 in the first quarter. Mari Pellmann followed with two unassisted goals at 9:29 and 8:38, while Bella Louwerse added another at 8:54.

Sydney Robinson and Chloe Harding each contributed unassisted goals, bringing the score to 5-1 by the end of the first quarter.

Bethel's Chloe Harding managed to score an unassisted goal at 4:39, but Lawrence Tech's Alaina Smythe quickly responded with an unassisted goal at 1:48, ending the first quarter at 6-1.

In the second quarter, Hannah Dean scored unassisted at 12:38, followed by Chloe Harding's second goal, assisted by Callie Brondyke at 11:12. Despite Bethel's efforts, Lawrence Tech continued to widen the gap with goals from Sydney Robinson, Audrey Spencer, and Alaina Smythe, ending the half at 11-3.

The Blue Devils maintained their momentum in the third quarter, with McKenna VanZant, Hannah Huebner, and Alaina Smythe each scoring unassisted goals. Alyson Walendzak and Mari Pellmann added to the tally, bringing the score to 15-3.

Lawrence Tech sealed their victory in the fourth quarter with goals from Alaina Smythe, Hannah Huebner, and Reece Nemeth, ending the game at 18-3.
