SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — The RV Bethel Pilots earned a 6-1 victory over Lawrence Tech on Saturday evening at the Franklin Athletic Club.
Bethel took control early by winning two of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point.
At No. 1 doubles,
Dimitar Berdankov and
Lukas Slivar fell 3–6 to Takuya King and Carlos Patricio Merlo.
At No. 2 doubles,
Aidyn Batyrbekov and
Ostap Talama earned a 7–5 win over Cael Guthrie and Augustin Patte.
At No. 3 doubles,
Sergio Orradre Escudero and
Atanas Ivanov picked up a 7–6(7–3) victory over Jack Minhinnett and Alessandro Gatto.
In singles play, Bethel dominated the lineup, winning five of six matches.
At No. 1 singles,
Dimitar Berdankov fell 3–6, 4–6 to Augustin Patte.
At No. 2 singles,
Aidyn Batyrbekov won in three sets, 6–4, 7–6(7–4), 6–2.
At No. 3 singles,
Atanas Ivanov earned a 6–2, 6–4 victory.
At No. 4 singles,
Lukas Slivar won 7–6(7–4), 6–3.
At No. 5 singles,
Ostap Talama secured a 6–2, 6–0 win.
At No. 6 singles,
Sergio Orradre Escudero completed the sweep with a 6–0, 6–0 victory.
Head Coach Jamal Henry reflected on the team's effort, sharing, "The guys really played well today. Lawrence Tech played us tough, as they always do, but I thought we matched their intensity really well and dug deep in key points. We had a couple of the starters out of the lineup and the guys that filled in took advantage of their opportunities."
