Women's Golf's Record Shattering Performance Extends Win Streak to Five

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - It was a day two Bethel Women's Golf highlight reel at Blackthorn Golf Club as the red-hot Pilots lit up the leaderboard with 20 birdies, leaving the school record in the dust, on their way to an incredible 4-under par team score of 284 and blitzing the field for a 15-shot victory.

Bethel put up a respectable 306 on Day 1, led by freshman Abby Dymott's 73,  and juniors Izzy Aigner (76) and Karisa Dyer (77) but they still trailed by 3 shots at the intermission.

But Tuesday was historic, seeing three program records fall, starting with a new individual low round of 68 by Aigner. Aigner doused her scorecard with red to the tune of 5 birdies and ended the day with a clutch par save to break the previous record of 69, held by Shanna Page (2008), Geandra Almeida (2013) and Jessica Shurety (2022). Aigner, starting on hole #10, picked up birdies on 11 and 15 and nearly aced the both the 13th and 16th holes, leaving just inches for her birdie putts on her way to an outward score of 32.

But the birdie barrage didn't stop there as Megan Bishop (71), Abby Dymott (72), Ellie Webster (73) and Karisa Dyer (74) all joined Aigner in the birdie-fest. The five players birdied 14 of the 45 holes they played on their opening 9 holes and had no scores higher than bogey on any hole for the day.

"Today was a day that this team has been waiting for, a day we've been expecting," said Head Coach Christopher Hess. "These ladies have been working extremely hard and today they came out with a chip on their shoulder and just flat out got the job done," added Hess. "They obviously have a lot of talent, but they are also fierce competitors and losing on their home turf just wasn't going to happen. I love the way they play for each other and am so happy for Izzy, who was just amazing today!"
