Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. ---The Bethel Pilots (9-1-2, 3-0-1) defeated the Goshen College Maple Leafs (6-3-3, 0-2-2) 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Goshen College Soccer Complex.
The win breaks the Pilots' previous season high of goals scored in a single game (4), which they last recorded against Mount Vernon (4-0) on Sept. 27th.
Julian Vargas Talamantes recorded the first goal for either team, assisted by
Jona Toussaint.
The Pilots also scored in the 27th minute for a 2-0 lead.
In the 33rd minute of the matchup, Maple Leaf Eli Simones scored on a penalty kick to even the board 2-2.
In the second half,
Diego Arrieta took the pitch by storm with a goal (49th minute), assisted by
Eduardo Pedroza and Maarten Shouten. Arrieta's offense continued to shine with another goal scored in the 71st minute, when
Jona Toussaint picked up his second assist of the game.
To conclude the exciting Crossroads League matchup,
Abdon Ortiz recorded his first goal of the season (88th minute), assisted by
Joao Teixeira.

Thiago Pinto shared, "We scored some great goals today against a good Goshen team who is having a good season. This game also gave us some important lessons to grow, and (I was) excited to see the spark from the guys who came off of the bench and impacted the game."
The No. 5 NAIA Ranked Pilots will next face the Grace College Lancers (9-2-2, 3-1) on Sat, Oct. 11th at Morey Field. Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM.
