COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Bethel Pilots sit in 11th as a team after the second day of the NCCAA Track and Field Outdoor National Championship, with
Lamarr Williams highlighting the second day with two first-place finishes to send him to the 100 and 200-meter finals at Columbia International University Thursday.
Williams ran a 10.52 for first place in the 100-meter to make the final and finished first in the 200-meter with a 21.03 to send him to the final on Friday.
Mark Brissau finished eighth in the 100-meter with a time of 10.88 and was the last runner to qualify for the final.
In the 110-meter hurdle prelims,
Austin Mason ran a 16.31 for fifth place and
Derek Vondrak ran a 16.53 for seventh place, with both making the finals. In the 10,000-meter run,
Aaron Douglass finished 12th with a 34:28.95 for the Pilots' distance highlight.
Christopher Kourthuis rose to fourth with a final score of 5329 after running a 17.12 in the 110-meter hurdles, throwing 24.87 meters in the Discus, clearing 3.45 meters in the Pole Vault, throwing 40.85 meters in the Javelin, and running a 5:11.87 in the 1500 meters.
In the field events,
Anthony Maxwell took fifth in the Javelin after throwing a 51.94 meters,
Tyler Simpson placed 10th in the Discus with a 39.75-meter throw,
Josh Handschu finished 12th in the Discus with a 39.24-meter throw, and
Landon Herbert finished 12th in the Long Jump with a 6.37-meter jump.
