Following his graduation, Cortes ranked third in program history in career singles wins with 43 (currently fifth) and fourth in career doubles wins with 48. He currently ranks seventh and fifth in career win percentage in singles and doubles, respectively.

Cortes was named a 2005 Second Team All-American, only the second player in men's program history to achieve NAIA All-American status. He was also named a four-time NCCAA All-American and was named an NCCAA National Student-Athlete of the Week in 2008. In Crossroads League play, Cortes earned All-League status all four years—one of two players in program history to accomplish that feat—and helped the Pilots to their only Crossroads League Championship in 2005.
