As a member of the Lady Pilots basketball program, Young used her four years on the court to tally a program's best 2,685 points, 685 more than the previous record holder, Abby Noll Grubbs, and just 11 points shy of tying the all-time leading scorer from the men's program, Eric Brand. Upon graduation, Young also put her name on the top of seven other categories in the Lady Pilot record book. Her career records include field-goal percentage (51.1) and career blocked shots (243) while she finished her career in the top three spots in the single season record book for points (891, 791 & 642) and blocked shots (83, 82 & 50).
On the national stage, Young piled up six all-American honors, three from the NAIA and three from the NCCAA. After picking up NAIA Second Team honors as a sophomore, Young rose to NAIA First Team All-American status during her final two seasons, becoming the first Lady Pilot to be a First Team honoree. Young also earned NCCAA First-Team All-American honors three times and was named the 2008 NCCAA National Player of the Year.
Young currently still holds the BU Athletic Department record for picking up Conference/League Player of the Week honors 13 times during her four-year career and was also named the NAIA National Player of the Week in January of 2008.
During her career, the Lady Pilots won one NCCAA national title and made three trips to the NAIA national quarterfinals while also winning the program's first MCC Tournament in 2008 and landing the 2008 MCC Regular-Season Championship.
At the conclusion of her playing career, Young's #20 jersey was retired and hung next to Grubbs' #10 in Championship Lobby, marking the second retired number in Lady Pilot history and the second in as many years.
In the spring, Young lent her talent to the women's track and field team where she was a three-time NCCAA All-American in the javelin as well as the MCC Women's Javelin Champion in 2007. She also still holds the BC women's track and field javelin record at 38.18 meters.
